Earn an "Environment Specialist High Skills Major"
The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program, which is part of the Ministry of Education's Student Success initiative in the province of Ontario, was introduced to offer province-wide specialized programs in specific ministry-identified sectors to support the success of all students. The SHSM Program has a number of required components, designed to give students a "leg-up" to pursue post-secondary opportunities in each of the identified employment sectors.
Aldershot School's RBG ECO Studies Program is one of only a few select locations in the province chosen to offer students this amazing opportunity. Any student in Halton District School Board or Halton Catholic District School Board can now apply to gain their Environment Specialist High Skills Major. The ECO Studies Program provides the foundation for students to attain a Specialist High Skills Major in the Environment Sector. Through contextualized learning, industry recognized certification and training, and real world job experience students will have all the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to be successful in ever expanding Environment focused career paths.
